Want to get creative with your gift-giving this year? Then you know that it’s probably best to steer clear of the cookie-cutter mall stores and lookalike e-commerce giants. Below are a slew of holiday craft shows and other shopping events that promise one-of-a-kind items with local, home-grown flair.

Weekend Nov. 4-6

• This year’s edition of the Dover Spouses Club Craft Show is Sat., Nov. 5 at Polytech High in Woodside, Del. Eighty-plus craft, artisan & food vendors from throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Proceeds support scholarships and charities helping military families. Details.

• This will be the 38th time around for Holiday Fair Fine Craft Show on Nov. 5 and 6 at the Rehoboth Art League in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Think jewelry, glasswork, ceramics, mixed media, and decorative and wearable fiber creations. Details.

The historic Old Wye Mill on Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore–believed to be the country’s oldest continuously operating grist mill–will be open in “Christmas Shoppe” mode on Nov. 5, Dec. 3, and Dec. 17. Various flours and other mill goods, along with gift items. Details.

• On Sat., Nov. 5 the fire company in Parksley, Va. will be holding a Fall Into the Holidays Craft Fair. Details.

• The Pine’eer Craft Club in Ocean Pines, Md. is putting on a Winter Wonderland Artisan Craft Fair on Sat., Nov. 5. Breakfast/lunch items by the local Kiwanis Club and a bake sale in addition to arts and crafts. Details.

Weekend Nov. 11-13

• On the evening of Veterans Day–Fri., Nov. 11–the Delaware Agricultural Museum near Dover is throwing a Holiday Shopping Boutique with local and regional vendors. Details.

• On Sat., Nov. 12, the Holiday Shoppes at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington will feature from than 150 crafters and vendors set up inside the buildings on the state fairgrounds. Food trucks, too. Details.

• The local chamber of commerce is organizing a Christmas Arts & Crafts Festival at the Pocomoke City (Md.) Community Center on Sat., Nov. 12. Crafts, home decor, wreaths, artwork, baked goods, and more. Santa will be holding court at the grand fireplace. Details.

Christmas Shopping Image• The North East, Md.. library has a Book Lovers Market on Sat., Nov. 12. Local authors, bookish gifts, used books. The great David Healey will be in the house! Details.

• The Princess Anne (Md.) Craft Fair & Market will be up and running on the two holiday-season second Saturdays, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. Twentyish vendors, everything from baked goods to jewelry to art. Details.

Weekend Nov. 18-20

• The Christmastime edition of the Eastern Shore Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival is Nov. 19-20 at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Artisans from around the region–and beyond. Live music, food, and museum admission are part of the deal. Details.

• On Sat., Nov. 19 Layton’s Chance winery near Vienna, Md. will have an Old Fashioned Christmas Market with two dozen vendors, a food truck, and deals on wine. Details.

• Head to the Carriage House at Winterplace Park in Salisbury, Md. on Sat., Nov. 19 for the Harvest Thyme Craft. More than 100 vendors, food trucks, Santa and the missus, more. Details.

• The town of Millsboro, Del. is putting on a Christmas Market on Sat./Sun. Nov. 19/20. Holiday plants and greens, crafts, and more. Details.

• The Emmanuel Church Bazaar in Chestertown, Md. on Sat., Nov. 19 is promising “Elegant Elephants,” baked goods, jewelry, and more. Details.

• The Blue Hen Comic Con & Toy Expo is an indoor affair on Sat., Nov. 19 in Dover. Organizers say to expect “14,000 square feet of pure happiness!!” Details.

• On Sat., Nov. 19 the 5th Annual Wicomico Day School Holiday Bazaar in Salisbury, Md. will have local vendors, food, and more. Details. 

Weekend Nov. 25 to 27

• The local shops and restaurants in just about every town on the Eastern Shore and in Delaware will be open and hopping for the big shopping weekend after Thanksgiving. Please support them as best you can on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and, well, every other chance you get this holiday season.

• The 40th annual Holiday Shoppers Fair at the Ocean City (Md.) Convention Center is Nov. 25-27 with unique vendor merchandise and handmade items. 120-plus vendors, Kids activities, too. Details.

• The Island Community House in Chincoteague, Va. will host a Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 25 and 26. Vendors, artists, baked goods, etc. Details.

• The Dewey Beach Sip and Shop affair on the post-Thanksgiving weekend of Nov. 25-27 will feature fine arts, handmade goods, DIY gift making, and more–40 artists expected to participate. Live entertainment, Santa appearances, libations. Details.

• A “Merry Marketplace” featuring homegrown and handmade goods will be up and running on Saturdays from Nov. 26 to Dec 24 at the Berlin Commons green space near the Buzz Meadery in downtown Berlin, Md. Details.

Weekend Dec. 2 to 4

• At the Christkindlmarkt in Denton, Md. on Fri., Dec. 2, there will be carriage rides and Santa visits in addition to craft vendors and late shop hours. Details.

• On Fri./Sat. Dec. 2/3, the Lewes (Del.) Historical Society is putting on a Holiday Village & Market with gifts, greenery, Christmas readings, horse-and-carriage rides, hot cider, and more. Details.

• A Santa’s Workshop full of creations by local artisans is part of the deal at The Bells of St. Benedict Old-Fashioned Christmas bash in Ridgely, Md. on Fri./Sat. Dec. 2/3. Dinner seatings, the man in red, cookie-tin fun, etc. Details.

• On Sat., Dec. 3, head to historic downtown Middletown, Del. for the Shop ’til You Drop Christmas Extravaganza. Vendor fair, craft fair, scavenger hunt, and more. Details.

• Head to Downtown Milford, Del. on Sat., Dec. 3 for the 17th Annual Holiday Stroll. Late shopping, holiday decor, firetrucks, a Christmas market, Santa, etc. Details.

• An Artisan Marketplace and Decorations & Greens sales are part of a larger Yuletide Festival at Mount Harmon Plantation in Earleville, Md. on Dec. 3 and 4. Food court, open-air tavern, house tours, too. Details.

• A “Merry Marketplace” featuring homegrown and handmade goods will be up and running on Saturdays from Nov. 26 to Dec 24 at the Berlin Commons green space near the Buzz Meadery in downtown Berlin, Md. Details.

• More than 70 vendors are expected at this year’s rendition of the Milton (Del.) Holly Festival on Sat., Dec. 10. Details.
