Here is your handy-dandy guide to the civic tree-lighting events of the 2022 holiday season. If I missed an occasion in your town, please put a link to event details in the comments here. November Tree Lightings

• The tree lighting in Salisbury, Md. traditionally happens during the downtown 3rd Friday festivities–in this case, Fri., Nov. 18. Details weren’t up as I posted this, but they’ll be here.

• As of this writing they haven’t announced a light-it-up night for the Winter Wonderland display along the backroads of Pittsville, Md. It is usually in middle or late November. Follow their progress here. Another source of info here.

• The tree lighting in Berlin, Md. on Fri., Nov. 25 is part of a bigger ICE ICE Berlin party with 30-plus lighted ice sculptures all over downtown. Santa will be there. Details.

• The tree lighting in Rehoboth Beach, Del. is Fri., Nov. 25. A holiday sing-a-long, too. Details.

• They will be lighting up civic trees and celebrating A Hometown Christmas in Ocean Pines, Md. on Sat. Nov. 26. Local choir, hot chocolate. Details.

• The folks in Chincoteague, Va. will light up the civic tree in downtown’s Robert Reed Park on Sat., Nov. 26. Details.

• The tree lighting in Milford, Del. is Sat., Nov. 26. Details.

• The tree lighting in Vienna, Md. is Sat., Nov. 26–the same night as the town’s Christmas parade. Details.

• This list of events says that Dewey Beach, Del. has two tree lighting events–one on Sat., Nov. 26 at Fifer’s and the other on Sat., Dec. 3 at Baywalk. Nothing in detail, but scroll to date here for bare-bones info.

• The tree lighting in Eastville, Va. is Mon., Nov. 29. Details.

December Tree Lightings

• The Harrington, Del. tree lighting is on Thu., Dec. 1 in Freedom Park. Local chorus, hot chocolate, cookies. Details.

• The Dover, Del. tree lighting festivities are scheduled for Thurs., Dec. 1 along Loockerman Street. Scroll to date here for details.

• The tree lighting in Denton, Md. happens on the same night as that town’s parade–Thurs., Dec. 1. Details.

• Starting Fri., Dec. 2 the holiday lights will go on at the grounds of historic Ker Place in Onancock, Va. Details.

Merry Shuckin Christmas Canvas Block

What home doesn’t need this bit of canvas-block holiday decor?

• The tree lighting in Elkton, Md. is Fri., Dec. 2. Details.

• The tree lighting in Pocomoke City, Md. happens on Fri., Dec. 2 as part of a bigger Old-Fashioned Christmas party. Details.

• The tree lighting in Princess Anne, Md. is Fri., Dec. 2. Details.

• On Sat., Dec. 3, the Queen Anne Waterman’s Association will be lighting up its crab-basket Christmas tree at Kent Narrows on Kent Island, Md. Details.

• Bethany Beach, Del. lights up its tree during the Holiday Happenings party on the first Saturday of December–that’s the 3rd this year. Details might go up here soon. There has been an afternoon “Santa party” in past years as well.

• The tree lighting in Millsboro, Del. is the same night as that town’s parade–Sat., Dec. 3. Details.

• The tree lighting in Cheriton, Va. is the same night as the town’s Christmas parade–Sat., Dec. 3. Details. 

• The tree lighting in Easton, Md. is the same night as that town’s parade–Sat., Dec. 3. Details.

• There is a note at bottom left here saying that the crab basket Christmas tree on Tilghman Island, Md. will get lit up on Sat., Dec. 3.

• A tree lighting is part of the Christmas on Pine festivities on Fri., Dec. 16 in a historical gem of an African-American neighborhood in Cambridge, Md.. Details.
