Lots of Delmarva towns will be going all out to drop some fun on for New Year’s Eve. There will be a crab drop,  a muskrat drop, an anchor drop, a crab-pot drop, and a horseshoe drop in addition to the more traditional ball drops and fireworks shows. There might even be a rockfish drop.

You will find info on those civic celebrations below. Here’s hoping it helps get your next year off to a fun-loving start. Stay safe, everyone!

• In Dewey Beach, Del. the New Years Ball Drop happens at New Orleans Street and Route 1. Info here.

• The Anchor Drop in Lewes, Del. happens at the historic Lightship Overfalls. Info here.

• There will be New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Wilmington, Del. along the downtown Riverwalk. Scroll down here for a little bit of info.

• On the kid-friendly front, the Delaware Children’s Museum has several midday “Confetti Countdowns” with live music and more. Info here.

• In Cape Charles, Va. the Crab Pot Drop happens two hours early, at 10pm, to encourage family participation. As the folks down there like to point out, “Hey, it’s midnight in Greenland.” Info here.

• In Chincoteague, Va., the traditional New Year’s festivities are two-fold affair–the big Horseshoe Drop and a Costume Promenade. Info here.

• The First Night Talbot festivities in Easton, Md. feature alcohol-free performances and fun events in various downtown locations between 6pm and midnight, culminating in a big Crab Drop. Info here.

• Fireworks are the big attraction in Ocean City, Md., with two shows–one down by the Inlet near Dorchester Street and the other up in Northside Park. Info here on boardwalk display. And here on Northside Park.

New Years Eve Muskrat Dive Princess Anne for 2017

This muskrat will be the New Year’s center of attention in Princess Anne.

• In Princess Anne, Md., the festivities culminate in a magnificently weird Midnight Muskrat Dive downtown. In the hours leading up there will be music, dancing, carriage rides, and more. Info here.

• The Somerset County library branch in Princess Anne, Md. is throwing a kids-oriented “Noon” Year’s Eve party. Info here.

• In Salisbury, Md., the Ball Drop, live music, and related festivities happen in the historic downtown. Info here.

• In downtown Berlin, Md., there will be a kids’ ball drop early on. Leading up to midnight there will be DJs, live music, and then another ball drop. Info here.

• In Crisfield, Md., the festivities in and around the library culminate in a big Oyster Drop. Details. (For little ones, the library throws a midday party complete with a “Noon Year’s Eve” balloon drop. Info on that.)

• In Rock Hall, Md., they usually have a Hat Parade in the early evening with a big Rockfish Drop coming later, but I haven’t found any info on it. If you simply must know what’s up, here’s a phone number: 410-639-7611. Alternatively, there are other Rock Hall restaurant and civic-group events at the date here.

Snow Hill Goat Drop New Year's Eve• They will be partying early in Snow Hill, Md. on New Year’s Eve. The celebration at the Old Firehouse starts at 5pm and culminates in a big Goat Drop at 6pm. I couldn’t find any online info, so the photo here shows the listing from a recent civic newsletter.
