The award-winning writer Jim Duffy of Secrets of the Eastern Shore will be in Delaware City for a book-signing event on the afternoon of Oct. 2, 2021. The affair will take place downtown at the Delaware City Trading Company, 60 Clinton Street, 1-3pm.
Duffy is the author of the bestselling Eastern Shore Road Trips series. Subtitled “One-Day Adventures on Delmarva,” the two books in the series include 53 travel itineraries on the Delmarva Peninsula presented in a format full of fun anecdotes and fascinating bits of history. Duffy is also the author of Tubman Travels: 32 Underground Railroad Journeys on Delmarva. He has two more titles on the way soon.

“The Delmarva Peninsula is such an incredible place to wander,” Duffy says. “What I’m trying to do with these books is encourage folks to get out and explore. There are so many fascinating and important stories you can get in touch with while wandering through our towns and backroads.”
The Delaware City Trading Company is a modern take on the old-fashioned general store. It offers a huge variety of regional and organic specialty food products as well as snacks and beverages. Wood furniture, home decor, souvenirs, and regional books are part of the mix, too.
The signing event coincides with the River Towns Fall Festival, a joint project of Riverfront Wilmington and the towns of New Castle and Delaware City. The event involves a morning bike ride followed by a big after-party in Delaware City’s Battery Park. That after-party is open to everyone, not just cyclists.
All three of Duffy’s books are published under the banner of Secrets of the Eastern Shore, a local business that celebrates the beauty and heritage of the Delmarva Peninsula in books, photographs, greeting cards, and other products. Duffy runs the business in partnership with his wife, the photographer Jill Jasuta.
Jasuta’s photographs are on display inside the Delaware City Trading Company. Duffy is planning to bring along some extra photography inventory to the signing event.
