Author and storyteller Jim Duffy of Secrets of the Eastern Shore will share fun and fascinating tales of Talbot County and Delmarva days gone by as part of the Tilghman Watermen’s Museum Speaker Series at the firehouse on Tilghman Island on Sat., March 22, 2025.
A resident of Cambridge, Md., Duffy is an award-winning writer and the author of five books, including two collections of “Eastern Shore Road Trips” and the new “Shore Fun: The Wanderer’s Guide to Delmarva.” Some of the stories he’ll be sharing are from a sixth book slated for release later this spring.
Duffy founded the homegrown business Secrets of the Eastern Shore with his wife, photographer Jill Jasuta, to help locals and tourists alike get in touch with the heritage and beauty of the Delmarva Peninsula, inspiring people to get out and explore the Eastern Shore and Southern Delaware. Duffy has given storytelling presentations along these lines in dozens of towns up and down the peninsula in recent years. He appears regularly on WBOC-TV’s DelmarvaLife, telling “Throwback Thursday” tales.
In addition to some local Talbot County tales, this storytelling journey will venture from one town to another on the peninsula, touching on big developments and themes in history through personal stories of triumph, struggle, and community-mindedness. Duffy will have copies of his books on hand for sale and signing after the talk. Audience members are also welcome to bring previously purchased copies of Secrets of the Eastern Shore books to the event for an autograph.
The event begins at 1pm. The Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Department is located at 5979 Tilghman Island Rd. For information, call the museum at 410.886.1025.
