I am eager to get my hands on the latest from the great local author Curtis Badger and his wife Lynn. Broadwater Island: Another Time, Another Place is based on boxes of photos of that long-drowned Virginia barrier island that weirdly popped up a few years back in Flagstaff, Arizona. The book should be in stock in lots of bookstores and shops on the Virginia shore. Or you can also order it from your favorite bookstore. Here is one place with online info and here is another.
Opening day for Brackish Books in Centreville, Md. is Sat., June 6. Liz and Ken Gilbert have been doing fun and great things for a while with their horse trailer of a mobile bookstore. Look at them now–a bricks-and-mortar grand opening! Congrats!
Speaking of bookstores, Liz Decker has moved Capricho’s Books to a new home in Snow Hill, Md. She is doing lots of fun events, as you can see on the Capricho’s Facebook page.
A cool thing from this month’s National Music Festival is Forest Music Thu June 11 at Adkins Arboretum near Ridgely, Md. The trails that afternoon will be full of violinists, saxophonists, etc.
Come on out to Campfire Stories Thu., June 11 at Cult Classic Brewery in Stevensville, Md. to hear super talented regional writers tell spell-binding, edge-of-your-seat tales.
I cannot wait to see what they’ve done at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center in downtown Cambridge, Md.. Their reopening on Sat., June 13 will unveil an exciting, innovative redesign built around multiple works by the great muralist Michael Rosato. The museum’s Facebook page.
