Storyteller Jim Duffy is going to spread the gospel of freedom here in America’s sesquicentennial year. In a presentation on Mon., Feb. 2 sponsored by the Seaford Historical Society, the award-winning writer will be telling tales of bravery and heroism that unfolded here in our Delmarva backyard during the days of the Underground Railroad.

Hear “The Call of Freedom” at 7pm that evening at the Manor House, 1001 Middleford Rd. in Seaford. This won’t be a bullet-point recitation of facts and dates. Instead, Duffy will put you in the middle of the action as keystone events unfold in lives of Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and other, lesser-known American heroes.
Duffy is a longtime student of all things Delmarva. He has written six books about the region, including “Tubman Travels: 32 Underground Railroad Journeys on Delmarva.” He’s a regular on WBOC-TV’s DelmarvaLife, telling Throwback Thursday stories. He’s the man behind the curtain at “Secrets of the Eastern Shore” on the web and social media.
