The Delmarva region is going to be the focus of a new series of guidebooks set to debut in 2015. First up in the series is “Fun Daytrips on the Eastern Shore”
Slated to come out in the summer, the book is the work of a new business venture, Secrets of the Eastern Shore, which is based in Cambridge and bills itself as “your ticket to fun in paradise.”
“This series is all about is helping people make the most of the time they have on the Eastern Shore,” says Jim Duffy, the founder of Secrets of the Eastern Shore. “The Shore is a place that’s full of hidden treasures, and my goal is to help people get out and do some more treasure hunting.”
Duffy is the writer of the book. A resident of Cambridge since 2004, he is an award-winning magazine writer whose work has appeared in Baltimore magazine, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Chesapeake Life magazine, and many other publications. He is married to Jill Jasuta, a photographer whose work will appear in the book as well.
Secrets of the Eastern Shore is best known at the moment for its popular Facebook page, which connects more than 12,000 fans with fun events in the region while also serving up nature photography and nostalgic pictures from days gone.
The Daytrips book will focus on a variety of types of destinations. Chapter subjects include small towns, the backroads, the beach, museums, and the great outdoors. You can preview some of the book’s content in the Daytrips section of the Secrets of the Eastern Shore website. The book will be available both on line at the Secrets website and in retail stores around the region, which for Secrets is the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia, along with Southern Delaware.
Future subjects in the guidebook series include “Strange & Wondrous Things to See on the Eastern Shore,” which will help readers discover the weirder side of the Shore, and “Things To Do on the Eastern Shore Before You Die,” a bucket-list guide to the best and most authentic Shore experiences.
Secrets of the Eastern Shore has also developed a line of greeting cards and notepads designed with themes that celebrate the Shore. Those products are now available in the Shore Store section of the Secrets of the Eastern Shore website.
